Jordi Casas-Roma (jcasasr@uoc.edu) – Senior lecturer and group leader
He holds a PhD in Computer Science (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, UAB, 2014), Master degree on Advanced Artificial Intelligence (Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, UNED, 2011) and Bachelor degree on Computer Science (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, UAB, 2002). He is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science, Multimedia and Telecommunications at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and also a part-time lecturer at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). He is the director of the Master in Data Science at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). His main research scopes include machine learning, graph mining, deep learning and privacy-preserving methods.

Ferran Prados Carrasco (fpradosc@uoc.edu) – Senior lecturer and group leader
He is a senior lecturer at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and senior research fellow at University College London. He received a PhD on medical image visualization in Diffusion Tensor Imaging with Cum laudem from the University of Girona (Catalonia-Spain). In 2012, he joined the Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC) in 2012. During the last 8 years, he has been leading and supervising the software translation between CMIC and the Institute of Neurology at Queen Square, bringing CMIC’s engineering innovation in medical imaging to the application environment. He is the main organizer of the annual Spinal Cord Workshop. The European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology awarded him with the Info-RESO ESMRMB Award (2008). He was awarded with the prestigious Guarantors of Brain fellowship to develop advanced spinal cord image analysis methods (2017-2020). His overall aim is to translate innovative neuroimaging methods into neuroscience, neuroradiology and neurology practice, to ultimately support quality of life improvement.

I am a data science researcher, innovator and lecturer who loves learning. I love working in innovative, interdisciplinary and international environments. I am very passionate about improving the quality of life of people using technology.
I am a data science researcher and innovator at Eurecat – Technology Centre of Catalonia and a part-time lecturer at Open University of Catalonia. I hold a PhD in Computer Science from Autonomous University of Barcelona (2015). I have more than 10 years of experience in R&D projects in disciplines such as artificial intelligence, social networks and ontologies; both in national and international centers. I am co-/author of more than 20 technical and scientific publications and 1 patent in the areas of artificial intelligence and bioinformatics.

Antonio Lozano Bagén (alozanobag@uoc.edu) – Consultant/Advisor
He has a PhD in Mathematics (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, UAB, 2016), Master Degree in Advanced Mathematics (Universitat de Barcelona, 2012) and Bachelor Degrees both in Mathematics and Computer Science (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, 2011). He founded Tengen to work as a Data Scientist, applying neural networks to solve problems in companies and institutions with large datasets available. He is also an assistant professor in Universitat Autònoma de barcelona (UAB) and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) teaching data science and machine learning to undergraduate and master students.
Baris Kanber (bkanber@uoc.edu) – Consultant/Advisor
Dr. Kanber has expertise in medical image management, data handling, and processing. He provides consultancy services to several European medical centres, including Hospital Clinic de Barcelona, Institut de Recerca de la Vall d’Hebron, and St. Josef und St. Elisabeth Hospital GmbH. He holds a PhD degree in Medical Physics from the University of Leicester, United Kingdom.
Marcos Diaz Hurtado (mdiazhu@uoc.edu) – PhD Student
I got my bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery from Autonoma University at Madrid. I am currently internal medicine and A&E Specialist Consultant at Bajo Cinca Hospital in Huesca. My interest cover infectious diseases (I am universitary expert in infectious diseases in an hospital environment by Complutense University of Madrid) and multiple sclerosis (I was consultant and clinical researcher at Miquel Martí Pol Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in Arnau of Vilanova Hospital at Lleida).
Currently I study Data Science Degree and also PhD Student Doctoral Programme of Bioinformatics at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). My research covers longitudinal image segmentation of multiple sclerosis lesions using deep learning techniques.
